This week we were able to go on a field trip that tied directly into our food unit. Our trip to Publix and Kilwins was a great experience for our little ones as they were able to see so many new things. At Publix we saw all the different departments, talked about the food we buy, went to the back to see how they unload the trucks, saw the big freezers, and even watched how they crush cardboard boxes to making recycling easier. At Kilwins we talked about all the different ice creams, what is in the ice cream, watched Ms. Stresen-Reuter and Mrs. Harbour make waffle cones, and discussed how you make fudge. During the day we were able to taste homemade peanut butter, ice cream, waffle cones, and fudge. At the end of the day they sent us home with cookies, apples, marshmallow treats, coloring books, and pencils. It was a WOW day.
